DRYING AND STORING MUD BRICKS
Five days after the bricks were
initially made and had had a chance to stiffened, I turned them on their
narrow edge to allow for more even drying. The bricks were exposed to 2 days
of light rain directly following the day they were made, hence drying time was
delayed. Wetting the bricks intermittently during the curing process is known
as hydrating. Slowing the drying process through hydrating helps to reduce
cracking and the prolonged drying time improves strength.
